aboutthis site is owned and maintained by John Vaughan. "jonvon"
is simply the phonetic spelling for John Vaughan. my last name is Irish;
the spelling comes from the gaelic, so basically everything from the "g"
on is silent, until you get to the "n". hence, "jonvon".
which also happens to be what my friends all call me.
whenever someone figures out that my monosyllabic first and last names rhyme they always end up calling me "jonvon" instead of john. which works out pretty well, seems like. my wife even called me jonvon for the first six months or so that we dated, until i eventually protested. ;-)
this blog landed in the "domino blogging community" family of blogs, as i am a Notes and Domino developer. i've been doing domino development for a good long time and the longer i do it the more i dig the platform. it is secure, the data store is more flexible than anything else in the marketplace, workflow and collaboration tools are built in, RAD tools make it easy to develop complex apps quickly, you can get to practically any other system via COM or java or web services, we can write in java and javascript natively as well as lotusscript and the @formula language, we have built in full text search, the list goes on and on. and IBM continues to push the platform to new heights, for example with an optional db2 data store, the workplace rich client, etc.
plus the community is amazing. people are very friendly. some of the people i've met via this blog have become life-long friends. every year we gather together at Lotusphere in Orlando. its kinda like mecca for Domino folk. those among the bloggers and the LDD contributors and so forth who can't make it are sorely missed.
life is good. i am blessed with a beautiful wife and a beautiful daughter and a career that is a lot of fun. i love my friends. you guys rock.
