duffberts worst practices karma?i was going to log a comment over there, and when i went to the page, i got this:
i dunno, but i think i'm smelling some Worst Practices karma here. ;-)
i did finally get to the page, but i'm afraid to post a comment there. i don't want to add any more problems to duffy's list today. heh. so... instead i'll just say it here:
the truth is we ALL have crappy code floating around here and there. it could happen to anyone. i've brought down servers before too. i mean crashed them. game over. crashed a few notes clients too, man i could probably write an anarchists cookbook for lotus notes if i wanted to, with the mistakes i've made over the years. my apps are pretty solid most of the time these days, but only because of my past mistakes.
hang in there brother. you'll figure it out eventually. it's probably one particular bit of nastiness, and not all the redundant (or whatever) snippets of not-exactly-ready-for-the-red-carpet code.

It's been doing that periodically... not sure why, as a refresh usually works.
But thanks for the encouragement.

:-)
it always seems worse in the moment it is happening.
as the guy who owns the cafeteria downstairs says, "what food doesn't kill you will only make you stronger." he actually has that posted on the wall...

I'm very disappointed in you two. Clearly this issue isn't the DEVELOPER's fault! It's Chris Miller's fault - he's Duff's admin! When did we developers stop blaming the admins for everything?!? Surely the end of the world is near!
*giggling*

@Rob
ARSE! Since i am both Senior Admin AND Senior Dev does that mean I have to blame myself? SHIT DAMN BLAST BUGGER FECK ARSEWIPE! I was saving up for a new boy toy and now I will have to spend it all on freaking therapy ... again!

@Rob... Um, I can't blame Chris any more. I changed servers when someone at his company decided that I had better hit results when searching for "connectria" than they did. She had Google blow away all my search entries. Basically, I was "virtually murdered".
Chris was none too happy with that woman...
But even better now... I'm running on the box that Warren Elsmore has. So we can always indirectly blame Paul now, as he's the one that's always trying to upgrade the server the second the code is downloaded...

Dude. Just last summer, I took down ALL OF EUROPE! WOOT!
Seriously. It was fun. Every worldwide hub. Crash. BOOM. Man, the phone calls from that one were a joy.
When I left that gig, the next guy to touch that code.... did the same thing. :)
Now, even if I did accidentally write code that attached thousands of files to the notesoducments totalling up to a gig of data to replicate worldwide... shouldn't a worldwide company be able to handle that??
So I go back to... blame the admins!

Yeah...it's the admin's job to move the code to prod. Don't they review the code before it goes to prod. *snicker*
